Muktinath Trek with Flights to Jomsom in Pokhara

About this tour

  • Mountain flight through the Kali Gandaki gorge
  • Medieval Kagbeni
  • Muktinath temple (3,800 m)
  • Tibetan-influenced culture

The flight to Jomsom is one of the most dramatic in the world: about 20 minutes through the Kali Gandaki gorge, squeezed between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. It drops you into the dry, wind-carved landscape of lower Mustang, a world away from green Pokhara.

From Jomsom we walk along the Kali Gandaki to Kagbeni, a medieval village of mud-brick houses and monasteries at the gateway to Upper Mustang. The next day we climb to Muktinath (3,800 m), a temple sacred to Hindus and Buddhists alike, with 108 water spouts and an eternal flame. Then we return to Jomsom and fly back to Pokhara in the morning, when the winds are calm.
