Tibetan Settlements
Communities founded by Tibetan refugees, with monasteries, hand-woven carpets and handicraft shops.
Several Tibetan communities were founded around Pokhara in the 1960s. The best known are Tashi Palkhel at Hemja, on the way to Sarangkot, and Tashi Ling, near Davis Falls.
You can visit the monasteries and hear the morning prayers, watch carpets being woven by hand, and buy Tibetan handicrafts, jewellery and clothing straight from the people who make them.
