World Peace Pagoda
A white Buddhist stupa on the ridge above Phewa Lake, with one of the finest views of the lake, the city and the Annapurna range.

Japanese Buddhist monks built the World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa) as a symbol of peace for everyone. It stands at about 1,100 m on the forested ridge south of Phewa Lake.
Getting there
- By boat across the lake, then an hour or so on foot through the forest. This is our favourite way.
- By road to the car park, followed by a short walk.
- On a pony from Lakeside.
Visiting
Please walk around the stupa clockwise, take off your shoes where asked and keep your voice down. Clear mornings give you the best mountain views.
Join our Peace Pagoda hike and boat ride or the pony ride.
